Don Fanucci Zet is ready for Elitloppet on the last Sunday in May.
- As unreal as it sounds, I think he has found another gear after the French adventure earlier this year. Don Fanucci Zet looks really nice and it will be great to be back in Elitloppet, says coach Daniel Redén.
So far in his career, Don Fanucci Zet has won four million dollar races; the Sprinter Champion in Halmstad in 2020, the Hugo Åbergs Memorial at Jägersro and the Norrbotten Grand Prix in Boden last year, but his biggest triumph is from 2021 when he won the Elitlopp final at Solvalla.
Don Fanucci Zet was second in the trial that year - but in the final he was the toughest of all and sprinted past the leader Vivid Wise As, who is also ready for this year's edition. 2022 he participated for the second time and won in good fashion in his trial. For the final, he was then played as the favorite, but hit a gallop right at the start and immediately lost all chances of a prominent position.
Don Fanucci Zet was sixth in the Prix d'Amerique earlier this year and after the first win of the year, which was taken in Bollnäs last week in a simple but elegant way, it will now be the start of the Elitloppet for the third time.
Solvalla's sports director Anders Malmrot told Saturday's V75 Direkt in TV4 that Don Fanucci Zet is the eighth horse that has been invited and thus only half of the places for Elitloppet 2023 remain.
- He won the Elitloppet in 2021 and galloped as the favorite last year. Don Fanucci Zet is incredibly fast and looked great last time after a break, says Anders Malmrot.

Elitloppet is the main attraction during the Elitlopp weekend, which will be held at Solvalla in Stockholm on May 26-28, 2023. Elitloppet is an invitational race where 16 horses compete in two different trials with eight horses in each. The top four in each trial meet in a final where the winner receives five million SEK.
