He was one of the two big names in the class last year - now it's time to take the next step.
Önas Prince will be horse number eight in the Elitloppet in 2022.
- He had a fantastic season with almost seven million in earnings last year and with a race in his body, he was great to watch at the victory in Örebro on Saturday, says Solvalla's sports manager Anders Malmrot.
Önas Prince had a good three-year-old season with victories in, among other things, Vårfavoriten at Solvalla and Premio Going Kronos at his home track Jägersro, where the total was over 1.4 million, but it was last year as a four-year-old that Önas Prince had his big breakthrough.
In fourteen starts, there were twelve victories in 2021 and as much as SEK 6,880,500 in the account where Önas Prince was one of two dominants in the litter. He won the King's Cup at Åby, the Sprinter's Cup in Halmstad and he also won the Breeders Crown in Eskilstuna - all three of these were million-dollar victories. Önas Prince was also second in the Swedish Trotting Derby at Jägersro behind the Calgary Games, which brought in another two million kronor and his fantastic season is among the best racing seasons a Swedish four-year-old has had.
After a third place in the first start of the year, Öna's Prince Håkan won Lillis Olsson's race - the last race in the Paralympic competition - in impressive style on Saturday and that victory means that the five-year-old is now Elitloppsredo.
Solvalla's sporting director Anders Malmrot announced in V75 Direkt in TV4 that the circle around Önas Prince received a pink ticket after the race, which means that eight horses and half the starting field are ready for Elitloppet 2022.
- Önas Prince won the Sprinters' Championship last year and showed that two heats are no problem, says Anders Malmrot.

Elitloppet is the main attraction during the Elitlopp weekend, which will be held at Solvalla in Stockholm on May 27-29, 2022. Elitloppet is an invitational race where 16 horses compete in two different trials with eight horses in each. The top four in each trial meet in a final where the winner receives five million SEK.
