Last year he made a successful debut and finished third in the Elitloppet. This year it's time again - Makethemark is the eighth horse to be ready for Sunday, May 31 at Solvalla.
- He is a real tough guy who can handle all kinds of races, says Solvalla's sports manager Anders Malmrot.
The biggest win of his career came in 2018 when Makethemark won the Jubileumspokalen at Solvalla with SEK 1 million as first prize. However, his best racing season to date came last year when he earned over SEK 3.7 million. Makethemark was not only in the Elitloppet in 2019, but on the track record you could also sum up a victory in the Finnish big race St Michel Ajo on the Mikkeli track and a second place in Åbys Grand Prix.
Makethemark started the 2020 season in the best possible way with an impressive victory where he jogged away from the competitors, but was recently felled by the rain-heavy course at Romme where he finished unplaced. However, the tone from the stable has continued to be positive afterwards regarding the training rounds and on Thursday, Solvalla's sports director Anders Malmrot announced that Makethemark will get another chance in Elitloppet.
- Last year he showed that he has grown into the world elite and this year he looked brilliant in his debut. I think Makethemark will be at least as good in this year's Elitlopp as he was last year," says Anders Malmrot.
The eighth horse is thus invited to the last Sunday in May, which means that half the starting field remains.

Elitloppet is the main attraction during the Elitlopp weekend, which will be held at Solvalla in Stockholm on May 29-31, 2020. Elitloppet is an invitational race where 16 horses compete in two different trials with eight horses in each. The top four in each trial meet in a final where the winner receives three million SEK.

This year, the Elitlopp weekend will be organized without spectators. The spread of the new coronavirus has led to laws, regulations and directives that have resulted in Solvalla and other Swedish trotting tracks completely closing down their spectator facilities since March 12. In addition to this, a number of restrictions have been introduced around the stables. The racecourses are today a strict workplace where only people who perform a job have access.
