This year's Speedrace, which kicks off on Elitlopp Sunday, features familiar names and four-legged heroes.
- It's a really nice bunch, which many have held hands on Saturdays for a long time, says Solvalla's sports manager Ola Lernå.
Last year's winner Chapuy has a track record in the Gold Division, as do Beartime and Phoenix Photo, and together this trio has earned over 14 million SEK!
- Also ready are millionaires like Nugget Zon, Champ Lane and 14-year-old From the Mine! The latter was second in the qualifying for the Speedrace in Gävle, but since the winner there has declined, From the Mine gets the chance. I know that the circle around the horse has been looking forward to the Elitlopp weekend - for a long time!
Ola Lernå has also invited starters Jes Angel and Gambino Brick, which leaves only one place left in Speedracet.
- I want to keep it going and give the trainers the chance to enter. I will select one of these who will have the opportunity to show who is the fastest horse over 640 meters, says Ola Lernå.
Speedrace is run as race 1 on Elitlopp on Sunday, May 31 over the ultra-short distance 640 meters autostart. The race consists of three trials with three horses in each. The winners from each trial then meet in a final.
