Tom Erik Solberg is the specialist in Elitkampen.
At Solvalla on Sunday he won his fifth edition in six years. He was supported by the Norwegian champion driver Tangen Bork, who took home his second Elitkamp and one million kroner.
The cold-blooded horses traditionally brighten up the Elitlopp Sunday and it was as usual a speed party and rush from the start. Tangen Bork took the lead from the eighth rail via 1.15,0 first 500 meters! The pace slowed down considerably up to the lap (1.20) before it became full speed through the final curve.
Tangen Bork kept away without problems before the sharply sprinting Finnish Stallone and Brenne Borken and the Swedish mare Majblomster who finished nicely as fourth.
The winning time was 1.19,1a/1.640 meters.
- It's a great feeling to come into Solvalla's race and feel that you have strength left. Elitkampen has been successful for me, to say the least," said driver Tom Erik Solberg.
Eight-year-old Tangen Bork passed the eight million SEK mark with this victory. The stallion is trained by Öystein Tjomsland. His three appearances in Elitkampen have resulted in two wins and a second place.
