He was played as the favorite in the final last year - now he gets a chance for revenge.
Francesco Zet is the fifth horse to be invited to the last Sunday in May.
- He is a fantastic horse who broke the world record last year and this year he is sharpened to run very fast in Elitloppet, says Anders Malmrot.
When Francesco Zet came to the lead in the final, many thought it would be Swedish victory in Elitloppet 2024, but when the gunpowder smoke settled, it was finally a fourth place in his Elitlopp debut behind French winner Horsy Dream. After last year's start in Elitloppet, it was then victory in the million races Norrbottens Stora Pris and Sundsvall Open Trot - where Francesco Zet was noted for the new world record 1.09,4 over 2140 meters with autostart. In this incredible achievement he defeated, among others, the Elitloppet runner-up Borups Victory.
In between he was second in the Åby World Grand Prix, again behind Horsy Dream, and on the track record there are a total of ten million victories for the seven-year-old stallion who has passed 23 million SEK earned so far during his fantastic career - the wins in Svenskt Travkriterium and Svenskt Travderby are the two largest with four million SEK in first prize.
Elitloppet manager Anders Malmrot announced via link from Solvalla's top races on Saturday in V75 Direkt in TV4 that Francesco Zet is the fifth horse to receive a pink ticket for this year's edition - the second Swedish horse so far in Elitloppet 2025.
Solvalla trainer Daniel Redén won the Elitloppet in 2021 with Don Fanucci Zet and now has another chance to win the world's biggest sprint race.
- He has a little more muscle, is better calibrated and I am incredibly excited about what we will see on the track of Francesco Zet, says Daniel Redén.
