The Locomotive competes for Australia in Elitloppet 2025
The Locomotive will compete for Australia in Elitloppet 2025.

The Australian train goes all the way to Solvalla on the last Sunday in May.
This year's most distant guest will be the fourth horse invited to Elitloppet 2025.
- "The Locomotive is a very fast horse and I think he has shown that he is the best in Australia right now. It will be very interesting to see what he can do in the Elitloppet," says Anders Malmrot.

The last time a horse from Australia participated in Elitloppet was in 2023 when Just Believe became a real crowd favorite. Although he galloped in the trial, he charmed the Swedish trotting public when he later finished third in the Jämtland Grand Prix and second in the Norrbotten Grand Prix.

A new Australian horse is coming to Solvalla - five-year-old The Locomotive, trained by Brad Hewitt. He has won Group I races in his home country as a two-, three- and four-year-old and in his career the five-year-old has earned almost 3.5 million SEK. The biggest win of his career came in mid-December when he won the TAB Inter Dominion Trotters Final 2024 at Menangle Park.

The Locomotive won nine of the twelve starts he made last year and after four starts this year, his sights are now set on Sweden.

The big news was revealed on Saturday's V75 Direkt on TV4 by Elitlopp boss Anders Malmrot.
- We are convinced he is the right type of horse because he has the class and speed required for a race like the Elitloppet, and we were really turned on to the idea after a long conversation with Björn Goop last month," said trainer Brad Hewitt.
