Once again this year, the police authority has decided on a total bag ban during the Elitloppet weekend at Solvalla. The ban means that no bags are allowed, with the exception of people with medical needs and parents of small children with changing bags.
The bag ban is a general decision for major events in Sweden and is not based on a specific threat to Solvalla or Elitloppet. The police authority has issued the ban and violating it is considered a violation of the Public Order Act. Solvalla naturally respects the police's assessment and wants Elitloppet to be as safe and pleasant as possible
-"We are used to the bag ban now and have had time to work out good routines to make it as smooth as possible for our guests, but for it to work fully, it is important that all visitors follow the police authority's rules. The bag ban is for everyone's safety, says Solvalla's restaurant and event manager Malin Karlsson.
According to the police, a wallet or small toiletry bag does not count as a bag, but larger items are not allowed. The bag ban also applies to plastic bags and various types of cases. Computers and cables may be taken, but not in a bag. No self-service food is allowed, but there will be serving areas throughout the course.
Solvalla offers bag storage at the intersection of Bällstavägen/Travbanevägen, where a fee of SEK 100 per bag is charged and paid by Swish. The bag storage is open 11.00-21.00 on Friday and 09.00-21.00 on Saturday and Sunday.
- However, we recommend that you do not bring a bag to Solvalla unless it is absolutely necessary," says Malin Karlsson.
The stable back, which is a workplace and not a spectator area, is not subject to the general bag ban during the Elitlopp weekend. Staff working in the spectator area are also not subject to the ban, but must go through a special entrance for thorough checks.
Can't Solvalla make an exception?
- The bag ban is generally issued against major events in Sweden. Solvalla does not own the decision, but must comply with it, violating it is considered a violation of the Public Order Act. It is the Police Authority that decides on bag bans at events. Solvalla has the greatest respect for their judgment and Solvalla wants Elitloppet to be as safe and pleasant as possible. There is no known threat to Solvalla or Elitloppet.

Can you bring a corded computer in your hand?
- Yes, computer and cord are fine, but not in a bag.
Can I take food with me?
- Unfortunately, you are not allowed to bring your own picnic, even if you carry the food directly in your hand. Instead, there will be a serving area throughout the course.
Is it possible to store your bag at Solvalla?
- Not at Solvalla, but we will offer bag storage subject to availability at the intersection of Bällstavägen/Travbanevägen (at the Solvalla bus stop). There will be a fee of 100 SEK per bag paid by Swish, debit card or ApplePay. The bag storage is open 11.00-21.00 on Friday and 09.00-21.00 on Saturday and Sunday. However, we recommend that you do not bring any bags to Solvalla.
How will athletes be able to compete without a bag?
- Stallbacken is a workplace and not a public area, so it will also be during the Elitloppet weekend and is therefore not covered by the general bag ban.
Can I bring my own chair to Solvalla?
- Yes, as long as the chair is not in a bag, pouch or case.
What is classified as a case?
- A case is a tightly closed material around a tablet or computer without handles or more compartments to store things in.

Solvalla offers bag storage at the crossing Bällstavägen/Travbanevägen.
The baggage storage is open from 11:00 to 21:00 on Friday and 09:00 to 21:00 on Saturday and Sunday.
Maximum allowed size of a bag is: 81x57x32 cm.
