Izoard Vedaquais gave a world-class demonstration of strength when he won the Harper Hanovers million dollar race at Solvalla on Saturday. The winning time was the new world record 1.11,8/3.180 meters!
The large Solvallap audience was treated to both a show and drama in Harper Hanover's Race. An incident where two teams collided meant that the race had to be re-run.
- "I was a bit disappointed when the race was called off, we had a perfect position then. But Izoard Vedaquais was just the best and for him it probably didn't matter," said driver friend Benjamin Rochard.
Izoard Vedaquai started from double supplements, took a calm first lap before Rochard sped up just two laps before the finish. Izoard Vedaquais crushed his competitors and stepped away to an easy win worth one million SEK while lowering the world record by a tenth to 1.11,8/3.180 meters. The Swedish High On Pepper finished second and the French Horchestro third.
Izoard Vedaquais is by the stallion Bird Parker - who also won Harper Hanover's 2016 race, with a short gallop at the start! Both horses are trained by Philippe Allaire, a French champion trainer who shone like the sun in the Solvalla winner's circle.
- Izoard is a fantastic horse. He had to put a lot of effort in the first attempt, but still had the class and strength to just step away from the others," said Philippe Allaire.
Tomorrow is the Elitloppet at Solvalla and Philippe Allaire trains last year's winner Hohneck!
- This year's Elitlopp is even better and tougher than last year. I have great respect for my competitors. However, Hohneck has been perfect in its preparation and I'm really looking forward to tomorrow," said Philippe Allaire.
