The Montéelite was ridden as one of the early races on the elite race Sunday. A speed party where the French mare Be Mine de Houelle and Marie Bacsich crushed their opponents on a new host record over a short distance.
The seven-year-old mare Be Mine de Houelle thrives at Solvalla - or perhaps especially over short distances.
The mare won the Monté elite two years ago and has been winless since then, competing mainly over longer distances at home in France.
Last year Marie Bacsich went too hard at Solvalla and Be Mine de Houelle crashed. The set-up was also offensive in this year's edition and Be Mine de Houelle was completely superior in the race after breaking to the lead from an eighth track behind the car.
Marie Bacsich went full throttle from the start and came up to the passing 500 meters in a breathtaking 1.06,3 and the first 1000 was clocked at 1.08,5.
Be Mine de Houelle was always in the lead and looked to have strength left at the finish in the new world record 1.09,8 over 1640 meters, autostart.
- Anything can happen but she was strong today and I felt early on that she would make it to the finish," said rider Marie Bacsich about the horse trained by Franck Leblanc.
Olympic Kronos finished second and Star Advisor Joli third.
This was the mare's seventh victory in her 75th career start.
Stefan Hultman expert in ATG Live hopes to see more of Be Mine de Houelle in Sweden.
- I think the distances the horse is racing over in France are too long. She should be allowed to stay in Sweden and try shorter races.
