Back then the winner of Elitloppet was Moni Maker. Is it finally time for a mare last weekend in May at Solvalla?
The fifth horse in the Elitloppet is Allegiant.
Five-year-old Allegiant doesn't know how it feels to lose on Swedish soil.
- She is the kind of horse that tickles and intensifies the speculation for Elitloppet. ”Everything went well in her debut and we would like to hand out this ticket now so that Daniel Redén can choose a ”smart' route to Elitloppet," says Solvalla's sports manager Ola Lernå.
Allegiant was the Three Year Old Mare of the Year in the USA in 2024 and interest was high, to say the least, when she came out at the Mixed Sales in Ohio in December 2024. Tobias Persson's Eagles Rising AB in Bjärred had the highest bid - 925,000 dollars or over ten million kronor, with the dollar exchange rate of the time...
- She is fast and it is a horse that we have been aiming for Elitloppet with for a year! This feels really fun and I'm very excited about what she can do, says Daniel Redén.
Her triumphs as a colt in the US include the Breeders Crown, Matron Stakes and she was third in the Hambletonian Oaks. On Swedish soil, she won the Four-Year-Old Elite for mares last year, as well as the Diana Zets Lopp. Her debut in the Folke Hjalmarssons Minneslopp was easy as she led from start to finish.
- ”We haven't really decided on the next task, but it will probably be Lovely Godiva's Race on the same day as the Paralympic Race at Åby, we will ”sneak' a little with her until Elitloppet," says Daniel Reden.
In total, eleven mares have won the Elitloppet, including historical pieces such as Moni Maker, Peace Corps, Dimitria and Frances Bulwark.
Allegiant is trying to take its place among the famous ladies on Mother's Day 2026.

Elitloppet is the main attraction during the Elitlopp weekend, which will be held at Solvalla in Stockholm on May 29-31, 2026. Elitloppet is an invitational race where 16 horses compete in two different heats with eight horses in each. The top four in each trial meet in a final where the winner receives five million SEK.
