About Elitloppet
The Elitlopp weekend 2026 will be held between May 29-31. The trials and final for Elitloppet will be run on Sunday, May 31. Elitloppet has been one of the world's biggest trotting races since its inception in 1952 and it is always held on the last Sunday in May at Solvalla. The world's best horses are invited to compete in trials and finals over a sprint distance of 1609 meters.
The Elitloppet weekend is the weekend that attracts the most visitors to a racecourse throughout the year.
Three days of trotting usually attract up to 50,000 people to the trotting oval, mostly on Saturday-Sunday. Horses, drivers and trainers come from all over Europe, and even from across the Atlantic. In 2026, the Elitloppet will crown the world's best horse over sprint distance.
16 horses participate, eight horses in two selection races qualify for a final that is loaded with five million crowns to the winner.
We usually boast that we have the world's best audience, which creates an indescribably wonderful atmosphere. All smiles, rhythmic cheering and the fantastic proximity to the athletes and horses.
Food of various kinds is served in a variety of places around the track, so although most restaurants are usually fully booked just a few days after the seats are released, there is something good to eat on site for you in the standing area.
Transport links here at the weekend are excellent. You can check which option is best for you here on our website, and there are also practical tips on how to make getting to the track easier. Please note that you are not allowed to bring alcohol into Solvalla.
