- Finlandia Ajo is Finland's most important international race and the winner's direct qualification to Elitloppet is a great honor for us.
So says Vermo's sports director Timo Mahlamäki after Solvalla and Vermo again this year cooperate with their two biggest races.
Finlandia Ajo to be held on May 4 over 1609 meters auto start at Vermo racetrack in Helsinki with 110 000 Euro as first prize. For the fourth consecutive year, the winner of the race will be directly qualified for the Elitloppet on the last weekend in May.
- There is almost always an exciting winner from Finlandia Ajo and above all they are in full form. I'm happy that we've managed to get this cooperation this year too," says Anders Malmrot, Sports Director at Solvalla.
Last year, Pastore Bob was victorious together with Johan Untersteiner (pictured). The team then made it to the final in Elitloppet.
- We are very pleased that the cooperation between Solvalla and Vermo continues. Finlandia Ajo is Finland's most important international race and that the winner will be directly qualified for Elitloppet is a great honor for us. Three weeks between Finlandia Ajo and Elitloppet is perfect for elite horses aiming for big races, says Timo Mahlamäki, Vermo's Sports Director.
Elitloppet is the main attraction during the Elitlopp weekend, which will be held at Solvalla in Stockholm on May 24-26, 2019. Elitloppet is an invitational race where 16 horses compete in two different trials with eight horses in each. The top four in each trial will meet in a final where the winner will receive three million SEK.
