Then he hopes the owners will take the decision to start in Elitloppet.
- I don't want to punish the horse by doing two jobs at once. You can't be a breeding stallion and compete at the same time. I hope that this year we can aim for Elitloppet," says Nurmos.

Readly Express put on a great show in Sunday's Prix de France which he won easily for Björn Goop. The impressive victory was worth just over SEK 1.6 million and the winning time was 1.10.3 over the distance of 2100 meters on the Vincennes course in Paris.
- The horse was great but I have also felt that in my work all the time after the Prix d'Amerique. He won with the stoppers left and Björn said there was a second saved at the finish. It had been raining all day and the track was a little bit heavy. In addition, there was a storm in Paris, says Timo Nurmos.
After spraying Björn Goop and owner Rolf Andersson with champagne from the magnum bag, Nurmos took a flight back to Stockholm later that evening.
- We had some champagne and celebrated in the stable café afterwards. It was very nice. Bjorn was all wet with champagne when he went to run the next race and so was the owner on the plane home, ha, ha.
Was Readly Express even better now than in the Prix d'Amerique?
- He was just as good in the Prix d'Amerique. If you go to the death in that race and lose in the photo finish, you have to say he was very nice. If the horse had been given the same race in the Prix d'Amerique as in the Prix de France, he would have won then too.

Readly Express joined another main team for the first time in its career. A face mask with blinders on, known as blinkers. It was something he had used in training for the last two jobs before the Prix de France.
- One day I got the feeling that I wanted to try it. That now is the time. He's seven years old and has run more than 30 races, and I've been saving up for this. I never wanted to stress him as a young horse, even though he has been very slow in training and in the races. I have wanted to save such gears for the future.
- Now he is ready in the body and in the trot and you can load with him. He has previously shown that he can open well. With the blinkers now, the effect was that he became more concentrated and more on the bit. He does not run and sleep or squint anymore. Previously he has run a little with his hands in his pocket, but now he took his hands out of his pocket. Now he opened 1.06 and a horse like Bold Eagle, who is the fastest in the world, didn't stand a chance," Nurmos says, adding that there is another idea behind the new main team.
- Since the horse has never done any 1600 meter races, I also thought we should try now for this year when he will start starting over 1600 meters. I want to start teaching him. If we start in the Criterium de Vitesse first, it will be the first sprint race for him.

Coach Nurmos has previously said that the big sprint race in Nice in early March could be the next task for Readly Express. But now it could also be the Prix de Paris 4000 meter test of strength in two weeks.
- We'll see how it feels this week. If the horse has recovered well, it is not impossible that it will be Prix de Paris as well. It was not a real race yesterday and he had so much strength left so it can be Prix de Paris too, says Timo.

What are the thoughts and plans about starting in Elitloppet?
- I hope and believe that the owner will make the decision to start in Elitloppet. It has taken a toll on the horse every year when he breeds and it takes several months to train and get into shape. It's a completely different world when the stallions are in breeding. It's one thing to cover a few mares, but not when you cover 80 to 100 mares. It's a full-time job," Nurmos says.
- The horse is also not very big and when he has to jump on the buck it puts a strain on his hind knee. It is a stressful moment when you cover so many mares and his blood values change. You have to be careful not to go over the limit.
- Last year I felt that he only started to get into shape five or six months after the trials. Then you could train at full speed and you couldn't do that before. The horse has shown that he is the best in the world and I, as a trainer, don't want to punish him by doing both jobs at the same time. He has done everything right and is fighting like hell and I have done everything right as a trainer behind. So I don't want to punish the horse," says Nurmos.

Solvalla coach continues to develop the reasoning.
- He could be in breeding for many more years after his racing career. But now he is seven years old and this year and next year are the best years of his career. So I think it's a bit of a shame to cover him now that he's finished.
- We started a few races last summer and in the fall but we could not train him fully. It was only later that he got into shape and his body and blood values became good. Half the season was ruined, you could say. It was only before the Swedish Championships that I felt that he became flexible and fine in the body again.
- I don't want to do the same again this year. That he will first be in breeding and cover many mares and then not be able to be fully trained. Then he will be in half-form when he will start in the summer and fall and maybe only get up to 70 to 80 percent. So I hope that this year we can train fully and aim for Elitloppet," says Timo Nurmos.
Readly Express has won 24 races in 34 starts and earned over SEK 21 million. Last year's Prix d'Amerique winner was also voted Horse of the Year for the second year in a row.

Michael Carlsson, Channel 75

Photo: Jll-letrot/TR Image

Efter miljonsegern och champagnefirande i Prix de France avslöjar Timo Nurmos att Prix de Paris kan bli nästa uppgift för världsstjärnan.
