The first prize in the stayer classic Harper Hanover's Race will be seven figures for the first time.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Harper Hanovers was up to SEK 900,000 in first prize in 2018 and 2019, but in the wake of the pandemic, the prize money was reduced in 2020. This year, SEK 1 million will be awarded to the winner of the Harper Hanovers Race, which now has the status of an international Group I race.<\/p>\n<p>- Harper Hanovers is many people's favorite race this weekend and this is where the power will be appreciated, says Solvalla's sports director Anders Malmrot.<\/p>\n<p>Thus, there are three races during Elitlopp on Sunday with a million or more to the winner: Harper Hanover's Race, H\u00e5kan Wallner Memorial\/Breeders Course and of course Elitloppet. Just like last year, there will be no Sweden Cup during Elitlopp Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>- Instead, we're betting on an open speed race with as much as SEK 300,000 for the winner. It will be run over sprint distance and is of course suitable for the horses that are knocking on the door, but do not really fit in Elitloppet, says Malmrot.<\/p>\n<p>But why no Sweden Cup?<\/p>\n<p>- With the conditions that exist for the day, it is difficult to find 21 quality horses for the Sweden Cup, therefore we believe that this option is better. It is also clear that there will be 100.000 to the winner in both Speedracen, both for hot and cold blood.<\/p>\n<p>- In addition, qualifiers will be run in G\u00e4vle on April 29 over 1,140 meters where the winner is directly qualified. Otherwise, the Speed Race will be just like previous invitation races, says Solvalla's sports manager Anders Malmrot.<\/p>\n<p>The question everyone is asking themselves - Solvalla included - is of course whether there will be any audience at Elitloppet 2021.<\/p>\n<p>- The answer is that we do not know at the moment. We hope that we will at least be able to utilize a number of percent of the capacity we have in terms of audience, but of course we follow the Government's decision and the Public Health Agency's recommendations.
