Will Finland have a horse in Elitloppet 2010?

2010-03-08 13:27

A few years ago, Finland had a representative in Elitloppet at Solvalla, but after Saturday's V75 races at Vermo, the Finnish public has raised hopes for the 2010 edition.

Jarmo Immonen’s E.L.Mikko impressed large in late summer 2007, when he had recently arrived to Finland from Canada and gained expectations as Finland's next star. He showed off tremendous speed at first, but has since then failed considerably, with few exceptions.

Now is the seven year old Yankee Glide son back and on Saturday he took this year's second straight victory after a long absence from the tracks. At high speed E.L.Mikko ruled perfectly and won easily at 11.6 / 1609 auto and earned 10,000 euros.

Considering the fact that it was cold in Helsinki, it was winter track and he wore calks on his shoes, he still ran at 11.6 at these conditions. How fast will E.L.Mikko run on summer tracks in May? We might get the answer during Finlandia Ajo at Vermo on Sunday, May 2nd.
