Lucky Jim made a superb victory in qualifying race
The buzz about which 16 horses that will be invited to Elitloppet on Sunday May 30th has started for real. On Thursday afternoon, Lucky Jim, the best American horse showed off in a qualifying race at The Meadowlands.
Nine horses were included in the qualifying race and the potential Elitloppet candidate Lucky Jim, who is trained by Julie Miller and driven by Andy Miller was placed as the fifth horse of the first 800 m of the race. In the beginning of the final turn Lucky Jim took over the lead through a rapid speed and the pressure he put on his opponents cleared the field and he won at 11.3 / 1609 auto.
Lucky Jim trotted 1.08,5 last 800 meters, and even faster 1.06,5 last 400 meters, without the slightest pressure from his driver.
- He has been ready to qualify in a couple weeks now, but the weather has been just as bad here as in Scandinavia, so I waited until today, said Andy Miller to Solvalla after the race.
- I feel I need to drive him from the start, I simply can not sneak him around in the races. It's the class Free For All now and they always go fast.
Julie and Andy Miller will start Lucky Jim in a few races before the Su Mac Lad Series kicks off in April. It is after the Su Mac Lad Series, Solvalla will get informed whether Lucky Jim is going to start in Elitloppet 2010 or not.
